CHAMOIS

Chamois Hunting in Spain

Chamois hunting in Spain is a thrilling and unique experience, offering the opportunity to pursue one of the most agile and elusive mountain species in Europe. Spain is home to two distinct subspecies of chamois: the Pyrenean chamois (Rupicapra pyrenaica pyrenaica), which inhabits the rugged Pyrenean Mountains, and the Cantabrian chamois (Rupicapra pyrenaica parva), found in the remote Cantabrian range along the northern coast.

Tradition, Thrill, and Unmatched Camaraderie

Each hunt takes place in breathtaking, high-altitude landscapes that test both the physical endurance and precision of any hunter. The terrain is often steep and challenging, requiring careful planning and expert guidance, making the pursuit as rewarding as the trophy itself. Chamois are known for their incredible agility, able to move swiftly across rocky cliffs and sheer slopes, making them a prized game species for those seeking an exhilarating mountain hunt.

The best time for chamois hunting in Spain is from September to early December and again in spring, between April and June. During these periods, the chamois’ thick winter coat and distinct markings make them even more spectacular. Each hunt is tailored to your preferences, whether you seek a solitary challenge or want to combine it with other hunts, such as the Spanish ibex.

With experienced local guides and access to some of Spain’s most stunning and secluded hunting areas, Huntex ensures a memorable chamois hunt that combines the thrill of high-altitude pursuit with the beauty of Spain’s untouched wilderness.
