Arrui (Barbary Sheep)
Ammotragus lervia
High-mountain hunting in its purest form: the arrui, with curved horns and mane, in southeastern Spain.
Originally from North Africa, the arrui or Barbary sheep has adapted superbly to the arid, rugged terrain of southeastern Spain, in Murcia and Almería. Imposing in appearance — curved horns and a mane over its chest — it moves across near-vertical slopes, demanding good fitness and long shots, often 300 to 400 meters. Securing a great trophy is an unforgettable challenge.
